Protesters place rocks in road and set tyres alight at Acacia

Protesters put tyres at the four-way stop but, before they could set them alight, police intervened and removed them.

Protesters threw stones at good Samaritans who were cleaning up rubble from last night’s protest near Acacia, on the road from Ermelo to Piet Retief, on 10 June.

Thereafter, protesters placed rocks in the road again and set a tyre alight near Acacia.

Members of Msukaligwa Engineering, an industrial cleaning company, decided to clean up the rubble after yesterday’s protest action near Acacia.

Police officers removed all the big rocks so that the flow of traffic was not disrupted again as was the case last night.

Ermelo Police officers are currently at the scene monitoring the situation.
