Enpower Machite continue with planned maintenance

It is unclear as to why the workers were stopped from doing their work.

In messages doing the rounds on social media groups last week, trade unions stopped the teams of Enpower Machite from continuing with any work.

Enpower Machite is the newly appointed service provider that will be focusing on upgrading Bethal and eMzinoni’s power supply over a period of five years.

It is unclear as to why the workers were stopped from doing their work.

The Ridge Times had since reached out to GMM’s acting head of communications, Mr Lucky Mhlongo who said: “The contractor is continuing with its work together with the employees of the GMM.

“It was resolved that the contractor will deal with planned maintenance while GMM employees continue with customer call outs.

“We can confirm that the contractor was not stopped from performing its core functions of maintaining the electricity infrastructure in Bethal and eMzinoni,” said Mr Mhlongo.

Enpower Machite, in support of Youth Month, has appointed 35 young people from Bethal and eMzinoni to assist the company in collecting customer information.

“The main purpose of the exercise is to clean-up customer information in order to improve customer communication, improve relationships with customers and make better informed decisions,” said Ms Tess Maroos, media liaison for Enpower Machite.

She said the data quality is important because without high-quality data, one cannot understand or stay in contact with one’s customers.

“This will be a door-to-door campaign where data capturing agents will be visiting customers on a one-on-one basis to capture relevant information,” said Ms Maroos.

Data capturing will be done from June 28 to August 31.

“We request customers residing in the Bethal and eMzinoni area to allow the agents access to their properties.

“The data capturers will have identity cards and letters from Enpower Machite bearing contact details of office officials to verify their appointment and address any concerns from the customer,” said Ms Maroos.

The appointed agents were trained in June to fully understand their role in order for them to perform their duties in a professional and efficient manner.
