Suspect in taxi owner’s murder abandons bail application in Evander court

The trial of three other accused is currently underway at the Delmas High Court. Proceedings have been postponed until August 2026.

Temsgeh Hoile, a suspect in the murder of prominent Kinross taxi boss Fannie Khumalo, abandoned his bail application during his appearance at the Evander Magistrate’s Court on May 20.

The court postponed the matter to June 13.

Gauteng police arrested Hoile in connection with unrelated crimes, during which he was linked to the November 2021 murder of Khumalo, a well-known member of the Vukanini Taxi Association (Vukta).

Khumalo was gunned down by four armed men at his home while preparing his minibus fleet for daily transport operations.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and died at the scene. Following the murder, police arrested three suspects.

Two other taxi bosses, also allegedly linked to the case, reportedly took their own lives during attempted arrests.

The trial of the three accused is currently underway at the Delmas High Court. Proceedings have been postponed until August 2026.
