Seriti hands over R10m in infrastructure projects to Lekwa

With this, they aimed to improve access to sanitation services and strengthen water infrastructure.

Seriti handed over two Social and Labour Plan infrastructure projects worth R10.4m to the Lekwa Local Municipality (LLM) on July 24.

With this, they aimed to improve access to sanitation services and strengthen water infrastructure. Tshifhiwa Ramotombu, communications officer at New Denmark Colliery, stated that Seriti donated a modern vacuum truck and funds to help refurbish the Standerton Water Treatment Works (WTW).

The vacuum truck is valued at R4 171 134, and Seriti contributed R6 222 152.85 towards the WTW.

“The truck was donated to enhance the municipality’s waste management capabilities and contribute to health and hygiene standards,” said Ramotombu.

He further explained that New Denmark invested the R6m towards the installation of new water pumps and a modern Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. This system will help with real-time oversight of pumping operations at the facility.

“These investments will allow for more reliable water distribution to all wards,” said Ramotombu.

He said this investment in Lekwa’s infrastructure directly addresses two of the most pressing challenges faced by the municipality.
