Four of these students from Zonderwater have been allocated to Standerton and four to Bethal.
Thirty students from the Zonderwater Training College have completed completed their theoretical training and recently joined the Bethal Management Area.
Four of these students have been allocated to the Standerton Correctional Centre, and four to Bethal to do their practical training.
After arriving at their posts, the students commenced their DCS learnership with an orientation and induction programme, which equipped them with knowledge of their new roles.
These students are expected to follow a standard of discipline and professionalism. They will be mentored by experienced officers who will offer them guidance and support over the next year.
According to Siphiwe Mahlangu, communications manager of the Bethal Management Area, these students will remain in the programme until the delegated authority confirms their permanent employment.
The Bethal Management Area welcomed these students two weeks after welcoming three educators, three artisans, two clinical nurses, and a social worker into its workforce.
“These are some of the efforts made to strengthen the workforce of Bethal Management Area to ensure that operations of the DCS are swift and effective,” said Mzwamakhaya Dlepu, area coordinator for Corporate Services at the DCS Bethal Management Area.
He said these new employees reflect the DCS’ commitment to investing in human capital and building future leaders.
