Heaps of animal remains stink up roadside between eMbalenhle and Bracken

According to motorists, businesses dump cattle skulls and intestines along the road.

Motorists driving between eMbalenhle and Bracken are concerned about the unbearable stench from animal remains along the roadside.

According to some motorists who use that road daily, there are business people who dump animal remains, such as cattle skulls, on the roadside, which causes a bad stench.

It is not only animal remains that are dumped on the side road between eMbalenhle and Bracken, but also garbage and the road is always full of scavengers and people doing recycling.

A recycler who asked not to be named said he survives by recycling animal remains dumped on the roadside.

“Unemployment opened my eyes as I was able to identify an opportunity to recycle animal remains like skulls and skin. I used to pass here and saw a heap of animal remains. I contemplated how I could make an income from it.

“Then another guy gave me the contact numbers of a company that can assist me. I called them for the information and they confirmed that they buy animal remains.”

We agreed on terms, and they gave a date on when they are collecting, then I started collecting them to a single place,” said a man.
Motorists are concerned about the amount of garbage on the road, which also poses a danger to them.

The Govan Mbeki Municipality media liaison and content developer, Donald Green, said the municipality has observed a concerning increase in the illegal dumping of animal skins and carcasses in open spaces, roadsides, and near residential areas in eMbalenhle.

Green urged residents to immediately refrain from this practice.

“Discarded animal remains, including cow heads and intestines, have been found between Mandela Section and Bracken.

“The resulting stench and decomposition pose a direct threat to the health of pedestrians and motorists,” said Green.

He asked residents to report anyone seen dumping animal remains or other waste by sending a WhatsApp message with the vehicle registration and location details to 083 790 0659.
