UPDATE: Security firm sheds more light on bombing at filling station in Charl Cilliers

A taxi driver was shot in the stomach and leg.

The owner of SA Crows Security Services said this morning that the ATM was blasted open at the BP filling station in Charl Cilliers on April 15 and not the safe.

Two shots were fired behind the BP filling station.

“I received a call from one of my security guards who was off duty,” said MW Odendaal, owner of SA Crows Security Services.

“He said he heard gunshots and something is happening at the filling station.”

Odendaal sent his other security guards who were on duty to the filling station.

“About 15 men were there who were heavily armed and we also found some empty 9mm cartridges there,” said Odendaal.

“A taxi coming from Standerton’s direction stopped to change drivers and the driver was shot in the stomach and leg.

“When my security guard arrived at the scene, they took his phone and hit him over the head.

“They then used his phone to send me updates and even photos of the site.”

The criminals allegedly also assaulted one of the petrol attendants badly and then took the cash from the tills and all the employees’ cell phones before bombing the ATM.
