Standerton Magistrate’s Court sends drug dealer to prison
Bhekizizwe Radebe was sentenced to five years imprisonment of which two years are suspended for five years on condition that he is not found guilty of a similar crime.
Bhekizizwe Radebe ( 26) was found guilty and sentenced by the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on December 10, to five years imprisonment of which two years are suspended for five years on condition that he is not found guilty of contravening section 5(b) and 4(b) of the drugs and drug trafficking act during the time of his suspension.
He was also found unfit to posses a firearm.
The sentence follows after the accused was arrested on October 18, 2022 at about 05:00 by Standerton Vispol members who were on duty patrolling the Standerton surroundings.
They stopped a suspicious looking Radebe carrying a backpack.
Radebe was searched and found in possession of 1 017 pieces of cocaine and 17 Mandrax tablets. The value of drugs the was R80 680.
Radebe was placed under arrest for dealing in drugs.
Radebe then took out money and tried to bribe the police and an additional charge of bribery was added.
The head of the Hawks in Mpumalanga, Major-General Nico Gerber, welcomed the sentence and applauded the investigative team and all involved.
He commended the public for constant partnership by providing positive information which leads to the arrest and sentence of perpetrators.
