Stop-and-search operation in Morgenzon leads to dagga bust worth R800 000
The dagga weighed about 180kg.
Two foreign nationals were arrested for allegedly being in possession of dagga worth an estimated R800 000 during a stop-and-search operation on the R39 near Morgenzon on September 10.
Morgenzon police, in collaboration with the Secunda Flying Squad, were conducting stop-and-search operations and highway patrols when they spotted a white Volkswagen travelling along the R39.
According to Morgenzon police spokesperson Sergeant Melumuzi Nzimande, officers followed the vehicle before stopping and searching it.
“The search of the car resulted in the discovery of 21 bags of dagga,” said Nzimande.
The dagga weighed approximately 180kg and has an estimated street value of R800 000.
The suspects, a 40-year-old Swazi national and a 30-year-old Congolese national, were arrested and are expected to appear before the Standerton Magistrate’s Court soon.
The investigation is continuing.
