Lekwa supports schools
The Lekwa Local Municipality recently visited Hlobisa Primary School and Morgenzon Landbou Akademie as part of their Back to School programme.
An entourage of the Lekwa Local Municipality recently visited schools in the community to assess their state of readiness for the 2025 school year.
According to Lubabalo Majenge, spokesperson for the Lekwa Local Municipality, the Back to School programme assesses whether schools are prepared for the year ahead.
It was also set in place to find challenges faced by learners. Such challenges are then brought to the attention of the MEC of Education.
Executive Mayor Sifiso Mngemezulu was joined by many role players, including Busisiswe Sekhonde (speaker of the Gert Sibande District Municipality) and representatives of Seriti Coal Mines at Hlobiso Primary School.

During the oversight, the municipality donated 56 pairs of school shoes to learners in need.
Seriti donated 200 bottles of juice to the school as well.
According to Majenge, the visit forms a crucial part of the Municipality’s ongoing support of local schools.
“It is important to motivate and support learners through their social challenges, handing over school shoes and other necessary support furthers this initiative,” explained Majenge.

On the same daye, Clr Dumisani Msibi and Clr Doctor Manana visited Morgenzon Landbou Akademie (Landties).
The councillors congratulated the school on their 100% NSC pass rate and encouraged them to continue their outstanding work.
“The municipality congratulates all schools for their performance in last year’s NSC exams, especially Landties for achieving 100%,” added Majenge.
He said that the high pass rates achieved by schools in 2024 will help uplift less fortunate families in the community, as well as contribute to local economy.
