Evander teen has big dreams for Turkey

Model sells cupcakes to raise money for international pageant in May.

Nosipho Mnguni (14), a learner at Highveld Park High School, won the Miss Teen World title in a modelling competition held in October in Johannesburg.

She was chosen to represent South Africa in Turkey in May.

This young model is part of the Trailblazer Modelling Academy under the leadership of coach Aphelele Nomangola. She has big goals and is quickly climbing the ladder in the modelling world.

Nosipho was not interested in becoming a model, but a woman at her church approached her one Sunday and said she should consider it.

She began modelling in 2024 and already won her first modelling competition in March 2025 when she became Miss Teen Valentine at a modelling competition held in Bethal.

Apart from taking the title as Miss Teen World in Johannesburg, she finished third in the Miss Teen SA category on the same day.

She also finished third at her school, Highveld Park High, in September and was crowned as second princess.

If Nosipho is not walking the modelling ramps, she enjoys playing netball at school or at the action sports centre as part of the Saints netball team.

She also takes part in public speaking and debate competitions at school and enjoys dancing at home.

She wants to study law after she finishes school.

Nosipho’s goal for Turkey is to come home with a crown.

“I am looking forward to representing my beautiful country there,” said Nosipho.

She believes in hard work and dedication in everything she does, and she wants to make a difference in her community.

“My family’s unwavering support from the beginning of my pageant journey gave me the incredible boost of confidence and motivation that I needed.

“I am also very grateful for my teacher, Ms Nondumiso Mbhele, who is now my second mother.

“She believed in me even when I doubted myself, and she pushed me beyond my limits.

“She helped me craft my introduction speeches and even did my makeup on the days of the pageants.”

Nosipho needs about R100 000 to make the Turkey trip possible and is currently looking for sponsors.

She is also selling cupcakes to make her dream come true.
