Baboon seen in Secunda finds its way into field outside of town

Wildlife rescuer is relieved the primate is out the residential area and hopeful it will make its way home.

The free-roaming baboon that was seen in Secunda over the past two days left Secunda this morning.

According to Tanja Ackerman of Secunda Wildlife Rescue, he was seen on a few houses’ roofs this morning before wandering into the field.

This came after animal rescuers had to plead with the public numerous times not to harm or scare off the baboon before they could catch and relocate it. People throwing stones at the primate and even threatening to shoot it were reported.

Curious residents were also asked not to rush to the scenes of sightings.

“I am glad to confirm that he found his way home,” concluded Ackerman.
