Sixty-three anglers took to the Standerton waters in the Grootdraai Dam, with bait on line and rods cast, in the Meyerville Fishing Club competition held on April 18.
The day called for perfect weather conditions and anglers to reel in the heaviest carp, barber, and mud fish.
In the men’s category, Jaco Steenkamp caught the heaviest carp, weighing in at 2.960kg. Bennie Venter reeled in the heaviest barber weighing at 8.160kg.
Francois Scheepers hooked the heaviest mud fish at 1.100kg. Marli van Biljon was the women’s winner with the heaviest carp weighing in at 1.760kg.
She also reeled in the heaviest barber, weighing 0.820kg. The heaviest mud fish went to Nadia Jonker, weighing in at 0.800kg.
