Hendrina and Ermelo dominate Sports Against Crime Tournament held in Kinross

Police officials competed in a netball and soccer tournament at the Kinross Sasol Club on May 6.

The Sasol Club was a hive of activity on May 6 as several SAPS units competed in the Sports Against Crime netball and soccer tournament.

The event brought together police officials from Bethal, Carolina, Ermelo, Hendrina, Perdekop, Secunda Cluster, and the Secunda Public Order Policing (POP) unit.

Netball: The netball courts saw a fierce showdown between Ermelo and Carolina. In a closely contested match, Ermelo emerged victorious with a 14–10 win to claim the top spot.

Soccer: Despite the absence of the Val SAPS team, the soccer tournament proceeded with high intensity.

Hendrina delivered a commanding performance to secure the championship, defeating the Secunda Cluster 4–1 in the final.

Final Soccer Standings:
Hendrina – first place, Secunda Cluster second place, Ermelo third place after a 2–0 loss to Secunda Cluster.

Secunda POP were in fourth place after a 5–0 defeat by Hendrina.

The tournament highlighted the SAPS’s ongoing commitment to using sports as a platform to foster camaraderie and strengthen community ties in the fight against crime.
