New school shoes give hope at school in Sakhile
Two foundations donated school shoes and sanitary products.

The Angel Khanyile Foundation teamed with the Izimpande Foundation to donate school shoes and sanitary pads to Nyandeni Primary School learners on January 27.
Learners and teachers danced in anticipation before several role players gave motivational speeches.
Nhlanhla Dladla, the acting CEO of the Standerton Hospital, shared his experiences in primary school and how peer pressure played a role in his formative years.
“When fighting peer pressure, we must be proactive, not reactive,” said Dladla. He motivated the learners to report cases of neglect and peer pressure to teachers.
Dr Themba Mosiah of the Department of Education praised the foundations for their work, explaining that you cannot grow if your basic needs are not met.
The learners performed several traditional dances and sang the school anthem before moving on to the next speaker, Duma Ngcobo.
Ngcobo, the CEO of Tracker SA, told the children that more than 3 000 vehicles are stolen in SA monthly. He encouraged them to abstain from crime.
He motivated the teachers to handle the children with “care”, an acronym for courage, accountability, respect and excellence.
“Every child must be raised with care to care for others,” said Ngcobo.
Finally, Angel Khanyile, a DA member of parliament and former learner at Nyandeni Primary School, said the donation would alleviate poverty and give hope to little ones in need.
The donated sanitary pads were particularly close to her heart, “Many girls miss school for seven days out of the month because they cannot afford the items they need.”
She closed by saying she was proud to return to Nyandeni with this donation.
“It feels like I am returning home,” said Khanyile.
The learners lined up to receive their new shoes.
