SECUNDA – Local junior squash players excelled at the Mpumalanga Junior Closed Squash Championships at the Sasol Recreation Club on 31 January and 1 February.
They took five gold medals, two silver medals and four bronze medals and 17 players were selected for the various Mpumalanga teams in their respective age groups.
Johan Venter, Anene Visser, Jessica Butland, FG Visser and Lisa Venter obtained first places while Ethan Karels and Johan Jacobs came second and Franco van Tonder, Jaco Spangenberg, Luke Nobrega and Maresha Karels got third places.
The local players who are included in the Mpumalanga team, are Nicho du Preez, Benno Spangenberg, Jordan Butland, Marlou Pieterse, Erik Steenkamp and Kiethan Titus.
All these juniors will compete in the South African Country Schools Inter-provincial Tournament in Bloemfontein from 30 April to 3 May.
