SECUNDA – More than 1 500 runners took part in the Kosmos 3-in-1 Marathon on Saturday, 7 March and Ken Mwape from Phobians Marathon Club was the overall winner with a time of 4:17,53.
Peter Muthubi from Maxed Elite Club finished second with a time of 4:25,47, Lucas Nonyana, also from Maxed Elite Club, finished third with a time of 4:42, 39, Rethabile Taunyane finished fourth with a time of 4:49,56 and Zwelithini Vaphi from Germiston Callies Harriers finished fifth with a time of 4:54,11.
Craig Cynkin from Olifantsfontein Marathon Club finished sixth with a time of 4:54,15, Agent Moagi from SAPS Marathon Club finished seventh with a time of 4:50,31, Thabiso Bontsi from Honey Lotus finished eighth with a time of 5:03,37, Ntheleng Mosime finished ninth with a time of 5:06,21 and Wihan Swanepoel from Longtom Marathon Club finished 10th with a time of 5:07,38.
The first woman who crossed the finish line and won the overall marathon, in other words did the best in all three marathons, namely the 10km, 21km and 42km, is Vanessa Bowman from Kempton Park with a time of 5:45,44.
Monica Vorster from Boksburg Athletics Club finished second with a time of 5:58,2, Lesego Hlako from Zwakala Marathon Club finished third with a time of 5:58,49, Lorraine Boshoff from VTM Marathon Club finished fourth with a time of 6:12,12, Taryn Retief, also from Boksburg Athletics Club, finished fifth with a time of 6:12,16, Modiegi Makwarela from the Eskom Gijimas Running Club finished sixth with a time of 6:16,43, Melanie Delainey from Nedbank Runners Club finished seventh with a time of 6:21,00, Macheba Meela finished eighth with a time of 6:21,37, Phindile Ncayiyana finished ninth with a time of 6:27,28 and Tebogo Tsotetsi finished 10th with a time of 6:34,14.
In the 42km marathon, Muthubi was the winner with a time of 2:28,21, Mwape finished second with a time of 2:28, 34, Karel Burger from Boksburg Athletics Club finished third with a time of 2:40,50, Ntheleng Mosime from Cool Runnings Atheltics Club finished fourth with a time of 2:41,35 and Timothy Makofane from Scaw Harriers Athletics Club finished fifth with a time of 2:41,55.
Nonyana finished sixth with a time of 2:43,7, Vaphi finished seventh with a time of 2:43,9, Samuel Makamu from Nelspruit Marathon Club finished eighth with a time of 2:43,48, Sipho Dlamin from Germiston Callies Harriers finished ninth with a time of 2:43,58 and Meshack Monareng from HSRC Running Club finished 10th with a time of 2:44,51.
Amos Thanjekwao from Midack Running Club was the winner of the 21km race with a time of 1:8,36, Piet Jacos from Nedbank Running Club finished second with a time of 1:8,59 and Abram Mahlangu from Anglo American finished third with a time of 1:10,16.
Thabo MOtaung from SCAW Harriers finished fourth with a time of 1:10,17, Ntuthuko Maseko from Nedbank finished fifth with a time of 1:11,35, Simon Sibisi from SAPS finished sixth with a time of 1:13,57, Mwape finished seventh with a time of 1:15,00, Maranata MC Call from Turn2God finished eighth with a time of 1:16,32, Albert Zikone from Nkomazi Running Club finished ninth with a time of 1:16,54 and Tyson Siwya from Carlton Athletics Club finished 10th with a time of 1:17,56.
Doctor Zene Zwane from Anglo American was the first runner to cross the finish line of the 10km race and his time was 32 min, 18 sec.
Thabo Motaung came second in this race with a time of 33 min, 41 sec, Thanjekwayo finished third with a time of 33 min 52 sec, Mwape finished fourth with a time of 34 min 17 sec and Lucky Sithole from Nkangala finished fifth with a time of 35 min, 20 sec.
Timethy Makotanae from SCAW finished sixth with a time of 36 min 02 sec, Muthubi finished seventh with a time of 36 min 36 sec,Siwya finished eighth with a time of 36 min 55 sec, James Majenge from Marais Viljoen Athletics Club finished ninth with a time of 37 min 09 sec and Gustave Roos from Born2Run Club finished 10th with a tim eof 37 min, 10 sec.
The start and finish of all the races were at UmuziLodge and runners ran the last race in the rain.
