Only one day left to enter competition and support cyclists in the MRP Ride with a purpose

Competition closes at midday on 30 March.

HIGHVELD – While the Ride for MRP Foundation becomes a distant memory for the 72-strong peloton and their supporters, the gritty cyclists still have one more mountain of a challenge to overcome.

A R2-million fundraising target was set ahead of the “Ride with a purpose” and the ride has raised just more than R1,8-million.

The platoon are determined to achieve their goal of R2-million by 30 March.

The money will be used to break the cycle of poverty and inequality in South Africa, through MRP Foundation’s education and skills development programmes, which empower tens of thousands of youth.

To help the cyclists achieve their R2-million fundraising target, CMH Nissan Durban is giving away a brand new Nissan Micra.

For just R20 you can be sporting a new set of wheels, and you will make a huge impact on a young life.

A determined and diverse peloton made up of individuals and teams comprising masters, juniors, women and development riders, as well as the first international rider, took to the roads, cycling from Secunda to Durban in just two days, on 2 and 3 December.

The 606km ride with purpose is a two-day stage ride and is deemed by many as South Africa’s toughest cycle ride.

With a total of 26-hours of cycling time, courageous riders overcame extreme heat as well as mental and physical fatigue, as they banded together to complete the ninth edition of the annual Ride for MRP Foundation.

The past ride was the largest peloton to date which included South African rugby legends Stefan Terblanche, Wayne Fyvie and John Smit, as well as South African triathlete Mhlengi Gwala.

To enter the competition to win the car, SMS “MICRA” and your full name to 38417 at a cost of R20 per SMS (free SMS’s do not apply) or enter via Zapper (on your smartphone) at R20 per entry.

Competition closes at midday on 30 March.
