Angel brings hope to the community of Ekangala

“I cannot just watch a child suffer while I know there is something I can do, no matter how little, to them it will make a big difference.”

Ms Angel Jabulile Nkambule (26) empowers her community of Zithobeni through the Senzumehluko organisation that she founded with like-minded individuals.

The organisation collects old clothes that are still in good condition around the community.

“We do the collection before the winter and before we reach the December holidays,” she added.

The clothes are then taken to families in need as this organisation does small events for the local families.

This is a non-profit organisation is non-profit and Ms Nkambule’s heart speaks of making a difference in and around her community

“We call these families to one place, and allow them to pick clothes they like and that they can wear long term. After this session, we also offer something to eat and drink. When we do not have funds, we just give them clothes.”

Ms Nkambule was inspired by her friend, Ms Tebogo Aphane almost six years ago in 2015.

“I was the first person to donate clothes. She was working hand in hand with Mr Sphiwe Tshehla, who is also an inspiration in his community. I later joined them and I was the one who helped them organise the first event.”

Social media is the one platform this dream team use to ask for a helping hand and for locals to open their hearts.

As they are dreamers striving for a better future they also run campaigns.

“We held a campaign under the hashtag Donate a Christmas outfit and it was a great success seeing everyone taking hands.”

Ms Nkambule said some people even bought clothes for children with disadvantaged backgrounds.

This team wants to give children the chance to shine and feel comfortable without having to worry about where they can also get warm and decent clothes just like any other child out there.

“Sponsorship, especially for our events, will help us achieve our goals in making these families happy. Sometimes families approach us and ask for food. Then we take from our own pockets to help where we can.”

In the future, Ms Nkambule dreams to have projects that educate in all fields.

“We want to teach these families about gardening, provide them with seeds for planting and help them grow their plants so that they either sell the product or make meals for their families.”

What motivates the organization is young children and the impact that the youth if they only had opportunities, could have.
