Joburg Water quickly responds to reported burst pipe

Thousands of litres of water saved.

It may sound cynical but one can not help but question the Council’s sudden burst of energy in the run-up to next year’s elections with potholes being fixed and roads being tarred everywhere you look.

Credit where credit is due though, as on 20 August when two of its own reported a burst pipe with water gushing from it on the corner of Gregor Street and Generaal Pienaar Avenue at just after 12 noon, the Record got the impression that miracles do happen.

When the Record arrived to investigate at 1pm, a five-man team plus two vehicles already were attending to the problem, which seemed like a record-time response. According to the team leader there were no other reasons for the pipe bursting except it being faulty.

Hopefully the little momentum that Council is gaining with ‘service delivery to appease the voting cattle’ will snowball and carry on until after all the election games are over.
