Seven years of light from the Welties Christmas Lights House

Once we have had our fill of turkey and welcomed the holiday season properly, we’re constantly encouraged to get into the spirit of the Season.
On its seventh anniversary, the popular Christmas Lights House on Biesie Avenue in Weltevreden Park encourages people to be joyful, charitable, generous, kind, and forgiving.
The impressive display of lights will be on every night (weather permitting) from approximately 7.15pm to 10.15pm from 1 to 31 December.
According to the Christmas Lights House owner, Gareth Lingens, the early beginnings of the Christmas lights were in a complex in Honeydew, where he and his family had put up a few lights around their unit for about two or three years.
The Lingens family enjoyed how people brought their children in the complex to see their small collection of lights that increased by a few new items every year.
In 2014 the Lingens’ found the perfect home to accommodate their love for lights, with lots of wall and roof space, and palisade fencing through which to watch the displays.

This year the Christmas Lights House will be raising funds for CANSA again, and there will be a box attached to the palisade fence where the public can drop in cash donations.

Members of the public are encouraged to wear their masks at all times, exercise social distancing as much as possible and since the lights are on a private residence, the community is reminded to be respectful of the property, its owners and family, and their neighbours.
