Panorama FC chairman says goodbye on his way to new pastures

Twelve years and countless memories left behind for the community club

Leaving behind something in a better position than how you found it is among the purest of achievements. Panorama Football Club’s outgoing chairman can depart with his head held high as he starts a new chapter in his life.

Twelve years ago, Michael Michael first graced the change rooms at Panorama as the first-team coach after selling his Champions Football Academy in Roodepoort. Within two years, his vision of the club would permeate through its structures, with the club inevitably elevating him to the chairman’s seat. In the decade to come, the former professional for clubs in Cyprus and Greece would take the club from strength to strength.

Chief among his accomplishments would be the club’s partnership with PSL outfit, TS Galaxy. “My highlights are plenty. From growing the club into one of the biggest amateur clubs in the country, to seeing some of our homegrown players signing professional contracts with PSL clubs,” stated Michael. “Our focus has always been on trying to improve the facilities, partnerships and player development,” he continued.

Sustained success is not easily won, especially in the domestic football scene. The sometimes stubborn character has not always endeared himself to everyone, often butting heads with rivals and authorities in the local administrative structures. Ever determined, he will continue his footballing journey at a first-division club in Cyprus where he plans to complete his UEFA Pro coaching licence.

In honour of his contribution, a plaque has been mounted in the ever-evolving clubhouse as a mark of the immense potential Panorama possesses. In his final address to his supporters, Michael movingly said, “Keep demanding the best from the new administration. Panorama has been the main focus in my life for the past 10 years and I would like to thank everyone for the memories. A big thank you to all the kids that are the reason for the club’s existence. Panorama will always be part of my life, wherever I am.”
