Panorama Running Club putting rubber to tar for Queen Butterfly
Community gets together for one more fundraisering push in 2020
Avid runners and supporters of the Queen Butterfly Foundation laced up their trainers for a 5km Day of Reconciliation jog, 16 December.
A joint venture between Panorama Running Club (PRC) and Team Active, supported by various community sponsors, runners donned their butterfly wings to make one last 2020 fundraising push for the centre for children with profound disabilities.

A strong crowd assembled in the bright morning sun and before the 7am start gun, Helderkruin Lions Club handed over their contribution to the cause. “We are here to serve. This all comes from the community and it will go back into the community,” praised Helderkruin Lions Club President, Glynn Easton, as he handed over a giant cheque for R5 000.
Runners made their way from Wilro Park Baptist Church, down Ouklip Road, through the streets of Roodekrans and back to the church for some post-sweat snacks. Security on route was provided by DMS Security while Meat on the Menu, RMD Meats, Lupo Bakery and Liberty Foods handled various catering duties. “Thank you to all the catering, security and logistical sponsors, and a huge thank you to the Helderkruin Lions Club for their amazing donation,” said race organiser Andrew Morrison-Young.
“A special thank you must go to Kerry Millar for initiating the interest and driving the event,” continued Andrew.
Kerry is not only a PRC member, but also a physiotherapist at the centre, holding a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy with special interest in Paediatrics. “Most importantly, to The Queen Butterfly Foundation for the wonderful work they are doing for God’s special children,” concluded Andrew.
Palesa Mofokeng, Queen Butterfly Organisation Manager, was naturally thrilled for the community’s ongoing support for the foundation. Never without a smile on her face, Palesa beamed, “The response has been great. We are glad everyone came to support and we are very grateful for all our friends of Queen Butterfly.”
