This is your chance to bake a difference

Cupcakes of HOPE is calling on as many people as possible to join in on their #BakeADifference campaign, and it is not a difficult or time-consuming thing to do.

The word ‘cancer’ sends a shiver down the spines of even the strongest people, and despite the advancements in medical treatments and science, a cancer diagnosis can often be seen as a death sentence.

When the vicious disease affects an innocent child, the fear and sorrow can be extremely difficult to deal with. According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 300 000 children are diagnosed with cancer annually throughout the world. With access to quality healthcare, more than 80 per cent of these children would be able to go into remission and live full, healthy lives. However, not all people can afford the medical treatments. “Many children in low-income and middle-income countries do not receive or complete care, and as a result, over 90 per cent of childhood cancer deaths occur in low-resource settings,” read the WHO website.

Beautiful little Faith.

It is precisely this reason that non-profit organisations that help provide medical assistance are so important. 15 February is commemorated annually as International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day and because February is the month of love, it is the perfect time to get involved with a charitable cause.

Cupcakes of HOPE is calling on as many people as possible to join in on their #BakeADifference campaign, and it is not a difficult or time-consuming thing to do. By following a few simple steps and taking a batch of cupcakes with you to work, you can help this organisation raise awareness around childhood cancer and raise funds for families that need medical assistance. “We are determined to put our love of baking to good use and ‘bake’ a difference in the lives of children fighting cancer,” said the NPO.

Want to get involved? Here’s how:
1. Pledge to bake 24 to 28 cupcakes
2. Register your fundraiser through Cupcakes of HOPE via their website: www.cupcakesofhope.org
3. Bake your delicious cupcakes and ask your friends, family members and co-workers to make a donation of R10 to R20 per cupcake
4. Transfer the funds into the Cupcakes of HOPE bank account

It is really that simple. The fundraiser is running until 28 February and all of the donations will be used for the medical and day-to-day expenses of children with cancer. Cupcakes of HOPE assists with these expenses for between 80 and 120 cancer patients per month. “With your help, we can continue to help even more patients in 2021,” said the organisation.
