Tribute to Honeydew resident who lost the Covid-19 battle
After a life of love, grace and gratitude, we say, 'Farewell Teena, until we see you again!'
Covid-19 has been a part of South Africans’ lives since last year in March. During this time, the numbers and statistics were just that, but as the second wave of infections hit, these quickly changed to names and faces we know, affecting all of us in one way or another.
A Honeydew family was torn apart when they received the devastating news on 21 January that their mother, wife and dear friend had lost her Covid-19 battle.
Tanya Thathiah, the daughter of Thyanagee Teena Naicker, wrote the following as a tribute:
A tribute to my mom:
Thyanagee Teena Naicker was born 12 April 1963 in Durban, South Africa. She was a happy, joyous, loving, compassionate and Christ-like person. Teena came from a grateful family of creative people.
As a young girl she enjoyed netball, crafts with her hands and she was the girl who wanted to be friends with everyone. As she evolved to adulthood, she became a nurse and worked with everyone, from children to the elderly, and in her later years she became the best friend that many had never had in their entire lives.
Teena said ‘Farewell, until I see you again’ on 21 January 2021, leaving behind her three fur kids and many animal friends, three children, husband, family, neighbours, all her very dear friends, and lastly all of the people she took under her wing as a mentor, mother and sister.
Since she suffered many illnesses, hurt and pain in recent years, she finally gets to be without pain in heaven with God and her mother, father and brother. She also gets to meet her second brother that she never got to play with and missed so dearly, as a child, as he passed on shortly after birth.
After a life of love, grace and gratitude, we say, ‘Farewell Teena, until we see you again!’
If you have lost a loved one recently due to Covid-19, send us a tribute (not more than 200 words) as well as a photo of the person to adeleb@caxton.co.za which will then be published on our website as well as in our newspapers.
