Community cleans up elderly resident’s garden

Her garden was overgrown with bushes and long grass and with the help of the PRA a team was put together to improve the situation and make the premises safer.

In a close-knit community, everyone knows each other’s names and people look out for each other’s well-being and security.

Saturday, 20 February saw Panorama Residents Association (PRA), neighbours, NPOs and businesses go out of their way to conduct a community clean-up for one of the residents within the community.

A call for assistance for an 85-your-old woman who lives on her own has come from one of the residents as the elderly woman’s garden was overgrown with bushes and long grass.

With the help of the PRA a team was put together to improve the situation and make the premises safer.

The community came together and started the clean-up at 8am, and with a lot of hard work and sweat the results spoke for themselves.

“PRA would like to thank Beagle Watch Armed Response, Tree felling ZA, Emergency Control SA – JHB West, AkLandscaping, and people who assisted with this clean-up today.

“These businesses did it free of charge to give back to the community that always supports them. We also want to thank ECSA which is a voluntary fire and rescue service for their assistance.

“We would like to ask that everyone supports the businesses and NPOs that support the community,” said PRA chairperson, Dave Baxter.

PRA also thanked Honeydew Lawnmowers that assisted with a part sponsorship of an industrial brush cutter which the residents association will be able to use in future clean-up projects.

“We would like to thank the residents who offered up their time and get involved; thank you very much, we can see what a community joining hands does,” said PRA Deputy chairperson, Michael Steyn.
