IIE MSA empowering young women with Ladies to Legend initiative
The Ladies to Legend programme aims to give students a platform to engage with industry leaders to share meaningful conversations
In celebration of Women’s Month, IIE MSA hosted its inaugural Ladies to Legend event on its Ruimsig campus in August.
The event aimed to bring together female students to share experiences, celebrate their achievements, and learn from an inspiring panel of accomplished female professionals and thought leaders. Aptly themed Empower Her, the event served as a platform where women could make their voices heard through meaningful conversations about issues that affect them the most.
Award Winning Radio Presenter from Metro FM Nthabeleng Matela, IIE MSA Head of School for Research and Postgraduate Studies Marlene Bogaard and Caroline Ncube, IIE Bachelor of Social Science Honours student, elevated the event and made it a memorable experience for the 50 female students in attendance.
“I loved the fact that the discussions delved into a range of topics including confidence and self-worth, women empowerment, and tools for success in the workplace. The panelists openly shared their journeys and insights of triumph over adversity, illustrating the importance of perseverance, resilience, and self-love which was inspirational and insightful,” said Samantha Tsotetsi, a second-year Bachelor of Public Health student.
Matela, who spoke on tools for success in the workplace, encouraged students to enhance their skill sets, cultivate mindfulness, and to also engage in reading as much as possible as there invariably exists a roadmap to achieve success.
