The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) is warning the public about a scam falsely offering jobs with the department.

The scam operates through WhatsApp, with a person claiming to be “T Kuduza” inviting applicants to a “last chance physical assessment test” at Ruimsig Athletics Stadium. Applicants are told they must pay to skip parts of the recruitment process.

The scam offers three options:

• Second Chance: R2 500 for another wall jump assessment attempt
• Priority: R5 000 to move directly to the psychological test stage
• Advanced Selection: R7 000 to go straight to the interview stage

“The JMPD does not charge any fees for recruitment, assessments, or applications,” the department stressed. Official communication comes only through JMPD channels and never requests payment via eWallet or Cash Send.

The scam comes while physical assessments for the 2026 trainee intake are ongoing. With unemployment at 33.2%, the public is urged to be cautious and avoid paying anyone for a job.
