Case postponed for gruesome murder
Frustration permeates the courtroom as the accused Mark Harvey's case is postponed again due to prisoners not being in court.
Mark Harvey was said to make a court appearance at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on June 19, after the long-awaited decision from the state.
Harvey was accused of the murder of Marishka Davids (30) and Zakkhiyah Rayman (38) after he allegedly doused them with petrol and set them alight in Florida on February 11.
Rayman, who was spending the evening at Davids’s place unfortunately got groped into this tragedy and passed away a week after the incident. Davids, who fought bravely in the hospital, later died at the end of February.
In Harvey’s previous appearance, he was denied bail and faced charges of murder and arson.

According to prosecutor Arnold Limekhaya, further investigations are required to take place to bring forward outstanding documents and statements.
“Due to the prisoners in custody not being present today, the case needs to therefore be postponed as there were no police offers to bring the prisoners to court,” Limekhaya said.
Mandy Davids, Marishka’s mom, expressed her frustration with how the case is being handled and feels that her daughter will not get the justice she deserves.

“While my family and I, with Zakkhiya’s family, sat in court, we hoped there would be some direction with the case. Having to hear that documents and statements are outstanding left us shocked because we cannot keep this repetitive pattern of court appearances.
“It is not fair, and all we want is justice for our daughters for the heinous crime he [Harvey] committed. I will not rest until I see him behind bars; no parent deserves to bury their child,” Mandy said.
The case is postponed to August 14 for further investigations.
