Body found hanging from tree in Florida field as police investigate separate kidnapping attempt
A disturbing discovery led to unexpected developments on a normally uneventful stretch of Main Reef Road.
A body was discovered hanging from a tree in a nearby field on Main Reef Road in Florida on the evening of Sunday, July 6.
The incident, believed to be a case of suicide, was responded to by a multi-disciplinary team including BCI security, Tracker, CCIN, OCC West, FMF Neighbourhood Team and Florida Police Officers.
According to a statement sent to the Roodepoort Record by BCI Security, as the scene was being secured, another victim emerged from the field claiming he had just escaped a kidnapping attempt.
According to the victim, the kidnappers had threatened to shoot him, but he fled when they noticed an approaching vehicle.
“Authorities confirmed that the body was not connected to the attempted kidnapping and had likely been there for two to three days,” reads the statement.
Florida police officers took over the scene, and investigations for both incidents are still ongoing.
