JUST IN: Slain Jayden-Lee’s mother to appear in court for his murder

Tension mounts outside the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court as community members demand justice for slain Jayden-Lee Meek.

Tiffany Nicole Meek (31), mother to Jayden-Lee Meek, is expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court to apply for bail.

Meek was arrested on July 14 after thorough investigations by Florida detectives with assistance from the Provincial Investigative Unit and Tracking Team.

The charge sheet revealed that upon searching the accused’s residential unit, the child’s bed had blood on it.

“Forensic analysis confirmed that the blood was that of the child, and various other evidence that the deceased was harmed in the house,” the charge sheet read.

Meek is facing charges of murder, crimen injuria, defeating and obstructing the ends of justice.

The Roodepoort Record is currently at the courthouse, where community members are gathered with placards, demanding that the suspect be denied bail.

Jayden-Lee was reported missing by his mother in May and was found unconscious on the staircase of the Swazi’s Place flats in Fleurhof a day later. Sadly, he was declared dead at the hospital.
