Mother accused of murdering son Jayden-Lee remains in custody as bail hearing is postponed

The bail application of Tiffany Nicole Meek (31), the mother accused of murdering her son, Jayden-Lee Meek, has been postponed to Monday, July 21, as another matter needs to be heard urgently.
Meek and her lawyer, Niven Naidoo, presented their affidavit to the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, and Meek indicated her intention to plead not guilty to all charges and denied allegations of abuse and neglect of her son. She stated in her affidavit that after her son went missing, she allowed community members in and out of her flat.
Meek will remain in custody for the time being, and the matter is expected to be concluded by Tuesday, July 22.

Meek’s arrest comes after extensive investigations by Florida police, the Provincial Investigative Unit and Tracking Team.

The charge sheet revealed that upon searching the accused’s residential unit, the child’s bed had blood on it.
“The deceased’s clothing and a bag were found in the accused’s residence, along with one of the boy’s bloodstained school books.”

“Forensic analysis confirmed that the blood was that of the child, and various other evidence that the deceased was harmed in the house,” the charge sheet read.
