Peter Road Substation trip leaves residents without electricity

Residents anxiously await the restoration of power while City Power investigates and looks for solutions to fix the issue.

Residents in Wilgeheuwel, Wilgespruit, Little Falls and nearby areas are without electricity today following a feeder trip at the Peter Road Substation.

City Power said in a statement this morning, April 17, that teams have been dispatched to investigate and restore supply. Technicians are on-site working to identify the cause.

The outage comes as the power system remains under strain, with residents urged to reduce consumption to prevent overloading.

Meanwhile, the Roodepoort Service Delivery Centre is dealing with a backlog of 416 electricity faults, 283 of which have been outstanding for more than 24 hours.

Despite the pressure, load-shedding remains suspended until further notice. Planned maintenance outages are scheduled in the coming weeks across Roodepoort North, Georginia, Horison, Constantia Kloof, Clearwater Mall area, Witpoortjie, Roodepoort West and surrounding suburbs between April and May.

City Power has apologised for the inconvenience and encouraged residents to log faults via official platforms and follow updates through its communication channels.
