Weltevreden Park’s selfless nine-year-old delivers pet food to Community Led Animal Welfare

Local nine-year-old Ira Ramadhan delivers the first collection of donations to Claw.

Ira’s Pet Food Challenge made its very first donation to Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw) on July 22.

A total of 116 cans, 56 sachets and treats, and 27 bags of kibble. Ira Ramadhan (9) still needs 901 items of pet food to reach her target of 1 100 cans of pet food for her birthday challenge.

HotCares, a local charity, pledged to donate R5 000 worth of pet food to Ira’s drive. Ira also has a basket stationed at SUPERSPAR Palm Court where community members can drop off their donations.

Ira visited Claw and spoke to Michelle Weedman who also gave Ira a tour of the different runs and cat shelters and she was able to greet and play with the various animals that are up for adoption at Claw. This was only the first of many donations she hopes to make to Claw, and Ira is appealing to the community to help her make her birthday wish a reality.

“I would just like to thank the manager at SUPERSPAR for allowing me to have my drop off at the shop,” concluded Ira.
