Local woman tells of the security measures she has to take daily

In this day and age we live in, it is difficult to protect oneself, however, one woman names a few safety tips that have become part of her daily life.

Lynne Stevens is just an ordinary woman going about her daily life in her community. She reveals that what she used to do to keep herself safe was simply a few tiny things that have now become a habit.

“Lots of little things that have just become a habit for me now, for example when I’m out at a restaurant, I hook my handbag or camera bag strap under one of the legs of the chair. If I drive home at night, I put my brights on as I turn into my street. I make sure my car doors are always locked and the windows are closed before I have to stop, or even slow down. I try to be constantly aware of anyone around me who acts suspiciously or may appear to be following me.”

Lynne also adds when her daughter was little she would write her phone number on her arm in case she went missing. Further, she adds she wears a band on her arm from Accident Angels which contains all her medical history as well as her emergency contact details. If she was then in an accident or unable to give information, someone can scan the band, and all her information will appear.

“I’m diabetic and if I happen to go into a coma, whoever scans my band will know who to contact and what my medical conditions are,” stated Lynne.

These are all aside from the safety measures she takes at home including, armed response, motorised gates and panic buttons.

“Wherever you are – be it at home, driving, out in public areas, or even online – be aware of what’s going on around you, know your rights, be kind and be confident!”
