Local crime fighter wins certificate of recognition from the West’s Civilian Crime Intervention Network

Beyers 'Fluffy' van Staden receives a certificate in recognition of his hard work as a volunteer community crime fighter in the West Rand.

The June winner of the Civilian Crime Intervention Network’s West Rand Operational Communication Centre was 35-year-old Beyers van Staden, or as his fellow crime fighters know him – Fluffy.

Beyers is part of a non-profit security and safety company called National Crime Assist (NCA) that wears quite a few hats. They have an Anti-Hijack Unit, Anti-Stock Theft Unit, and a reaction team across the country to help community members in need.

“NCA also helps in specialised circumstances for example tracking down missing persons and administering polygraphs.”

“Through the non-profit, I work alongside the police and security companies to help curb crime in my community. We do what we can, when we can, to the best of our ability,” he explained, adding that NCA is a registered non-profit, as well as PSIRA, registered.
