The fire, which broke out at 16:40, prompted an urgent call for help in the Honeydew Emergency Responders group. CGFA Firefighters were the first to arrive on the scene, immediately tackling the blaze with water from a nearby fire hydrant. Despite their rapid intervention, the flames had already taken hold of the property, requiring reinforcement from multiple emergency service providers.

Fire Ops SA, Fidelity SecureFire, and the City of Joburg EMS fire services soon joined the effort, working together to contain the fire before it could destroy the entire property. Their teamwork and quick response ultimately saved a significant portion of the house. While the kitchen and several rooms sustained severe damage, the rest of the home was preserved.

Security teams from SB Security, EC Security, and the Honeydew Community Police Forum (CPF) were also on-site, ensuring the safety of emergency personnel and their equipment throughout the operation.

Michael Steyn, the Honeydew CPF public relations officer, expressed gratitude to all who played a role in containing the fire.

“Without the fast and coordinated response from these teams, the outcome could have been far worse. Their dedication and bravery made all the difference,” he said.
