Chivandire duo wins big at international swimming championships

From personal bests to medals, see how the two achieved international glory.

Swimmers and siblings Eliecia and Adriel Chivandire delivered outstanding performances at the Zimbabwe Senior National Swimming Championships, held at the Les Brown Pool in Harare from February 19 to 23.

The championships represent the highest level of swimming competition in Zimbabwe, attracting more than 200 of the nation’s top swimmers, including those based abroad.

Eliecia competed in six events and qualified for all six finals – an impressive achievement at the national level. She won three gold medals in the 50m butterfly, 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley, and added two silver medals in the 50m and 100m backstroke, demonstrating her talent and dedication through consistently strong performances.

Brother Adriel also excelled. He competed in seven events, achieving seven personal best times and qualifying for six finals. He earned two silver medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke, showing clear improvement throughout the competition.

The performances of the Charter College International High School learners were instrumental in helping Crocs, the swimming province representing Zimbabwe’s foreign-based swimmers, win the trophy for the Highest Aggregate Team Score. Their family, team and school community are proud of the Chivandire siblings’ achievements at this elite competition.
