Roodies honoured at district awards
Hoerskool Roodepoort takes numerous accolades at the 2024 district awards.

Hoërskool Roodepoort made an impressive statement at the Johannesburg West District’s annual awards ceremony held in December.
The school excelled in various categories, bringing home a slew of prestigious awards.

The school’s achievements included:
• Third place for Cultural School of the Year
• First place for Promotion of Values
• First place for Sports School of the Year

Individual learners also received recognition, with Caden Dalais taking third place for Sportsman of the Year, Likamva Thumani securing second place, and Alyssa du Preez earning third place for Cultural Girl of the Year. Sanay Ramsammy was crowned as the winner in the Male Ambassador of the Year category.
Staff members were also honoured, with Helana Terblanche receiving a special award for Values in Education. Janro van der Schyff took second place for Coach of the Year, while Levarno Rankoe secured first place.
Principal Marina van der Merwe expressed her pride in the students and staff, citing their hard work and dedication as key factors in the school’s success.
“Our students and staff have truly represented the badge with excellence,” she said.
