Laerskool Die Ruiter welcomes new Grade Ones.

The only tears in the morning came from the parents as they waved goodbye and gave kisses to their little ones.

The first-time ‘scholars’ interacted with one another from the get-go, like old friends at a reunion.

One proud parent Sibusi Buthelezi spoke to the Roodepoort Record and mentioned how nervous she was now that her son is starting school.

“I’m nervous but he seems very chilled and has already made a friend. We stay across the road which means I can always check up on him whenever I miss him” she says.

As the morning unfolded, the teachers warmly introduced themselves to the learners, reassuring them that they were in a safe and nurturing environment. With smiles and confidence, the learners settled down in their new classrooms, already engaging in fun activities with their teachers.
