Florida brothers shine bright
Matthew and David Holland receive national colours for prepared reading and public speaking.
Two brothers recently received their National Federation Colours for Performing Arts after their stellar performance at an international competition – the Stars of the Universe.
According to their proud mother, Candace Holland, the competition took place in January, and both her sons, Matthew (15) and David (12) received two gold certificates for prepared reading and public speaking.
“They started doing public speaking at school four years ago and quickly realised they both were skilled at it. You need to achieve a minimum of 90% at various competitions to be invited to go to the next level. They received their provincial Colours in October 2024,” she said.
To add to this massive feat, the boys have also been selected to represent the country in an international competition set to take place in New York in June.
“They are very proud to achieve this honour and they will continue to strive for excellence. They just need to practice for many hours to perfect the art of speaking in public. They are both striving in other aspects as well; Matthew was in the top ten for his school, and David has represented Gauteng in athletics and cricket.
“We are looking forward to numerous competitions that they will enter, including, among others, Conspirito and Talent Africa,” said Candace.
