Netball starlet triumphs at provincial tournament

Local netball player secures second-place win at interprovincial netball tournament in Cape Town.

In an exciting start to the new school term, netball star Khumo Sekgopolo, a U14 player from Trinityhouse Little Falls, has made a name for herself.

Khumo is making a name for herself in both indoor and outdoor netball. Representing Southern Gauteng in the junior interprovincial netball tournament (IPTs) in Cape Town, she was described by her coach as a fireball on the court.

Although her team narrowly lost to Western Cape Coastal in the final, they secured a well-deserved silver medal. Khumo’s impressive performance didn’t go unnoticed, as she is the only player in her school to be selected to represent the Gauteng provincial netball team.

Her coaches witnessed her proving her talent and commitment to the weekly practice sessions, and they truly paid off. She made another debut at the first round of the Gauteng Trials on April 7 at Hoërskool Florida, making her mark as one of the best U14 players in the D12 district.
