We need to be kind

'It is not often that I am left with very little to say (my husband can attest to that!), but the first few weeks of 2021 have left me with few words'.

It is only the third week of 2021, and I must be honest, I am not a huge fan.

I am not normally a negative person, but these first few weeks made me realise that humans love to fight with each other; about anything and everything, making me want to lock myself in my bedroom, pull the covers over my head, and just stay there.

It is not often that I am left with very little to say (my husband can attest to that!), but I have been left with few to no words to describe what I am witnessing; people hurting each other, calling each other names, judging their choices, not respecting their opinions and so much more.

And, as the global Covid-19 pandemic shows no signs of slowing down, I came upon some very true words that I would love to share with you. Unfortunately, I cannot credit this to a specific person, as the writer is unknown, but, I hope that this will leave you with some food for thought:

Covid and kindness – by Anonymous
Working parents want kids to go back to school because school closures directly impact them. Teachers don’t want schools to open because Covid spreading around their school directly impacts them.
Healthcare staff want a full lockdown because sick Covid patients directly impact them. Business owners want to carry on as normal because lockdown directly impacts them.
People with physical health problems want everyone to stay socially distant because catching Covid could kill them. People with mental health problems want people to spend time with them because isolation could kill them.
Some can’t wait for a vaccine because they believe it will bring back some normality. Some are terrified of a vaccine because they believe it could harm them.
We are all going through this but none of us is going through the same thing.
Some face crippling financial challenges, others face heartbreak.
We don’t all have to agree on what is best because what’s best for us won’t be best for everyone.
We don’t have to understand what others are going through; but we do need to stick together and keep loving each other no matter our differences. We need to be mindful when some things go the way we want it to, as it could be terrible news to another person.
We need to be kind.

Until next week, stay safe and look out for each other …
