Wires have been left by the neighbouring informal settlement dwellers which they used to connect to our transformer illegally, and are death traps.
They are consistently tapping into our power, causing untold damage to our electronic equipment – TVs, computers, printers, food processor and cellphone chargers, have all had to be replaced, costing us tens of thousands of rand.
We also get electrical shocks in the shower.
Our estate manager receives death threats when he disconnects and removes the cables.
In the past Eskom has sent their people out to disconnect, but the electrician leaves the cables there, as he fears for his life.
Sadly, a few hours after the technicians have left, the illegal connection is reconnected again, and this is an ongoing thing.
