As I am writing this, I cannot believe that 2021 is almost over and that we are in the process of preparing for 2022.
This year has flown by, and it feels that I have not been present for most of it. We had to adapt to many new things and had to learn to do a lot of things differently, resulting in not only being physically tired, but mentally exhausted as well. It has been a year filled with a lot of highs, many lows, uncertainties, anxiety and even some stress, but we have managed to persevere, and come out stronger than before.
So, as the year is speeding to an end, I want to use this opportunity to thank all of you for your faith in me and every journalist, as well as your loyalty to the paper. We will be enjoying a well-deserved break from December 22 onwards, to ensure we have a chance to recharge so we can be refreshed and ready to tackle 2022 together.
My wish for each and every one this year is that you will remember the following, “Christmas is about so much more than festive decor and gifts under the tree – it’s about celebrating family, friends, and everything else that brings you joy. And the most important is, it’s not about presents, but presence.”
If you are travelling this holiday, be safe. If you are staying at home, spend it with friends and family and make new memories as you go along, and don’t sweat the small stuff; eat the extra piece of cake, have some more pudding and indulge in those luxury chocolates!
Most importantly, remember to adhere to all Covid protocols to ensure that you and your loved ones will be able to walk into the new year together.
From my family to yours, may you have a blessed Christmas and may your 2022 be a year filled with 365 opportunities to ensure your goals are reached and dreams are realised.
Until next year, take care of each other …
