Words with powerful meanings

We use these words regularly, but do we really know what they mean?

It has been said that the tongue is as sharp as a two-edged sword and that we need to use our words wisely. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, heal or hurt. Our words are powerful, and should be treated with respect.

We use a lot of words on a daily basis, and we do not always think about these words, resulting in us not always realising the full impact of our words; not only on others, but also on ourselves. Words, and how they are used can also have an effect on your daily happiness and the way you live your life.

Faith, trust, hope, confidence, love and attitude – we have all heard these words countless times, but, do we know what they really mean?

I have stumbled across six little stories about the meaning of the above mentioned words, and I would love to share them with you:

1. One day, all the villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of the prayer, all the people gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella. That is faith.
2. When you throw babies in the air, they laugh because they know you will catch them. That is trust.
3. Every night we go to bed without any assurance of being alive the next morning, but still we set the alarms to wake up. That is hope.
4. We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That is confidence.
5. We see the world suffering, but still we get married and have children. That is love.
6. An old man had the following written on his shirt, “I am not 80 years old; I am sweet 16 with 64 years of experience.” That is attitude.

Keeping the above in mind, I want to challenge you to think twice before speaking. Use your words for good; use them to build someone up and not tear them down, this will not only make them happier, but will also help you to have a happier day.

Until next week, stay safe and look out for each other …
