Junior Boks beat hosts New Zealand

Baby Boks record impressive 33-24 win in Auckland.

The South African Under-20 rugby side registered an impressive win at 2014 IRB Junior World Championship when they defeated host nation New Zealand 33-24 on Friday.

The Junior Boks came back from behind after conceding two tries to score four of their own, claiming a bonus-point win.

Two penalties from Handre Polland gave the South Africans a 6-0 lead before an error allowed New Zealand to strike back through a try from Tevita Li.

The Blues winger was not done as he beat five players in a solo run to score his second try of the match.

The Boks responded through a penalty before scoring their first try of the match as Jesse Kriel crashed over the whitewash.

The second half saw the visitors starting strongly as Kriel set up Pollard’s try, before Lloyd Greeff added another.

Warrick Gelant then scored the fourth try for the Boks to secure the lead before Li scored a late try for New Zealand to make the scoreline more respectable.
