“The manager was persistent in wanting to bring me here, which always means a lot to a player. I’m really looking forward to my first game in front of the Cardiff City fans.

“Like Palace fans, Cardiff City fans are extremely passionate and love football. I’ll be sure to give them 100 per cent effort,” 29-year-old Dikgacoi said.

Cardiff said on their official Twitter account: “We are pleased to announce that Kagisho Dikgacoi, aka @KGDikgacoi has signed on the line & agreed to join.”

Dikgacoi, who comes from Brandfort in the Free State province, played 26 top-flight matches for Tony Pulis’ charges last season and helped them survive relegation.

Dikgacoi is the fifth player to be signed by Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, a Manchester United legend, as he aims to build a squad to gain promotion from the Championship at the first attempt.
