Pollard nominated for IRB Player of the Year

Bulls and junior Springbok flyhalf rewarded by IRB.

Junior Springbok flyhalf and captain, Handre Pollard, was named as one of four nominations for the IRB Junior Player of the Year 2014 Award.

The nomination was confirmed on Tuesday when the international Rugby Board revealed the four-man shortlist for the prestigious award.

The winner’s name will be revealed once the Junior World Championship final at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday has come to a conclusion.

Tournament finalists South Africa and England had a player nominated from each team that included Pollard and Three Lions wing Nathan Earle respectively. While Ireland centre Garry Ringrose and New Zealand wing Tevita Li complete the quartet of players.

The management of the 12 teams involved in the Junior World Championship hosted in New Zealand voted for their top three players after each round and the votes were tallied to provide the shortlist of nominees.
