Triple Threat in Ruimsig reopens under strict Covid-19 protocols
Gyms and fitness centres have been closed since the start of lockdown four months ago, and Triple Threat Kick Boxing Club's owner, Wade Rendall wasted no time preparing to open and submitting their Covid-19 protocols.
President Cyril Ramaphosa recently announced that the country will be moving to lockdown Level 2 from midnight on Monday, 17 August.
Gyms and fitness centres have been closed since the start of lockdown four months ago, and Triple Threat Kick Boxing Club’s owner, Wade Rendall wasted no time preparing to open and submitting their Covid-19 protocols.
“Upon entry we will have screening and disinfecting stations, markers have been placed on the floors to ensure social distancing as well. In our cardio and free weights section we have already spaced our equipment to adhere to the 1,5m social distancing required. Sanitizer stations will be available throughout the clubs, including spray and paper towels for the equipment,” said the energetic Wade.

According to Wade, the club has been open for the last month after they managed to obtain a clearance certificate from Martial Arts South Africa (MASA) for clubs that could not get any assistance and to prevent them from closing down.
Wade revealed to the Northsider that the change has been quite hectic; they have opened their doors only from this week, not full-time but just enough to pay the bills.
A few other kickboxing gyms were also allowed to open, but a lot of gyms in big centres like the Danie van Zyl Wrestling Club were not allowed to open.
Fortunately the lockdown Level 2 brings with it the opening of gyms; however approval from the authorities needs to be obtained first.
Gym owners are required by law to present their Covid-19 plans to the government for approval before they are allowed to open their doors again.
